CONDITION: Some age related discolouration to the paper and the ocassional scattered marks and rippling, typical of this type of work.
About the Artist:
Susan Beatrice Pearse (1878-1980) was a British book illustrator, particularly known for her work on the Ameliaranne series. Born in Kennington, London in 1878, she was educated at King Edward's School, Southwark. In 1919 she married Walter E. Webster in Fulham, but continued to use her maiden name in her work. In addition to her book illustration, she also created drawings for greeting cards and often included pictures of Childeren and dolls in her work. She died in 1980, at the age of 102
