About the Artist:
Sven Paul Berlin (14 September 1911 – 14 December 1999)
Berlin arrived in Cornwall in the mid 1930s, before Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth, and was a founder member of the Crypt Group (1949). After leaving St Ives he lived among gypsies of the New Forest before finally settling in Dorset. An awesomely creative man, Berlin's work was full of the passion and enthusiasm of a man fascinated by life. His prolific output was underpinned by a consummate draughstmanship.
